![]() Carrie and I managed to steal away for an evening sail in early September without having to worry about Jakob - he was with Grandma and Grandpa. It was an incredible evening. Winds were out of the north at 15 knots, waves were about 3 feet, and the sky was beautiful. We stayed out about an hour after sunset, then headed back for the city lights and our slip. As we were sailing back for St. Joseph, just before dark, we noticed something on the horizon in the west that would appear and disappear. Turns out it was some atmospheric refraction that was enabling us to see the Chicago shoreline from over 50 nm away.
