Another sailing season is about to come to a close after a great summer of sailing. Ariel covered approximately 600nm during a month-long trip on Lake Michigan. We departed St. Joseph early July and headed north, eventually going as far north as Charlevoix and Beaver Island before heading south again. Ariel performed flawlessly. We logged several hours of sailing with the new drifter, and the dodger upped the comfort factor considerably. Ariel returned to St. Joseph much improved: her teak is nice and bright, her gelcoat polished, her systems fresh and functional, and a couple of new projects underway.

As the season winds down, we'll fit in as many evening and weekend sails as possible.

Two of the major winter projects in action during Summer Cruise 2008: the dodger and the drifter. Both worked marvelously.

Ariel anchored off of the old Whitehall Leather factory on White Lake, Michigan, during summer cruise 2007. We discovered during our 2008 cruise that the factory has been demolished to make way for a new development. What a shame that such a unique piece of history was too expensive and too complicated to preserve.
